Guide to Hosting a Girlfriends Holiday Pajama Party

Guide to Hosting a Girls Holiday Pajama Party

I absolutely love spending time with family during the holidays and creating magical memories with them.  We have so many wonderful family traditions that make Christmas so special.  Polar Express Night, our advent calendar, personalized ornaments, Christmas Eve at Grandma’s and of course, seeing the kid’s faces as they walk down the stairs on Christmas morning!  All that being said, the holidays don’t have to just be about family traditions.  There’s plenty of room to celebrate the season with everyone and even create new traditions with your favorite gals! That’s why I put together this guide on how to host a girlfriends holiday pajama party.

Getting together with my girlfriends doesn’t seem to happen as often as it used to, or as often as I would like, so I’ll take any excuse I can for some time with the ladies.  And then add a fun theme like a girlfriend’s holiday pajama party and I’m definitely hosting!

I’ve broken down all my tips for a fun and festive night with the girls.

Guide to Hosting a Girlfriends Holiday Pajama Party

Step 1: Matching Pajamas

Matching pajamas are something that I’ve always done for my daughter’s slumber parties, but twinning with your girlfriends isn’t exclusive to the kiddos.  Us grown up girls can have fun matching, too!  Nothing gets everyone into the holiday spirit like festive jammies.  Plus they make for some REALLY cute photos!  There are some really adorable holiday pajamas out there in tons of styles that are super affordable.

Step 2: Festive Drinks

There’s nothing like a festive drink to get the party started!  Greet your guests at the door with a fun holiday inspired cocktail (or mocktail, if you’re hosting a younger girlfriends pajama party) .  I’ve included recipes of some of my favorites from my holiday guide below.

Step 3: Snacks

Girls just wanna have fun…AND EAT SNACKS!  I know charcuterie boards are everywhere right now, but it’s honestly because they’re so easy to create.  You literally just take all your snacks and place them on a board until they look pretty.  One of the other reasons I love charcuterie boards is because there’s such a variety of foods that there’s usually something for everyone.  It’s fun to include both sweet and savory snacks on a board or you could make separate boards for each.  Charcuterie options are endless! They are the perfect snack to add to my guide on how to host a girlfriends holiday pajama party!

I’ve always wanted to have a charcuterie board making party and I think it could be a really fun activity to include in your pajama party. Maybe I’ll host one and create a Guide to Hosting a Girls Pajama Party Part 2 that dives deeper into making charcuterie boards.

Step 4: Holiday Playlist

It wouldn’t be a party without music, now would it?  I’ve included my holiday playlist below with some of my all time favorite songs to keep you and your girlfriends dancing all night long!

Step 5: Games and Activities

Like I mentioned above, making personal charcuterie boards with your girlfriends is a great option for a fun activity. You could also make Christmas wreaths (there’s a great tutorial over at Sincerely Sara D) or just have a good ol fashioned game of Christmas themed Would You Rather. Oh and the pillow fight may or may not be planned, but is ALWAYS a good option!

Step 6: Watch a Classic Christmas Movie

My Guide to Hosting a Girlfriends Holiday Pajama Party wouldn’t be complete if it didn’t suggest closing the night with a classic Christmas movie. If you and your girlfriends are looking for a sappy romance my personal favorite is The Holiday, but if The Holiday isn’t your style there are TONS of Hallmark Christmas movies to choose from. If you ladies are looking for a comedy, Elf is an all time favorite, but there’s also The Santa Clause, Home Alone, and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vaacation to keep you laughing. I’m not sure if we can include Mean Girls in the Christmas category, butttttt there is that whole Jingle Bell Rock scene!
